What is a Notice?
A notice is a short formal written announcement that gives important information to a group of people. It is usually displayed on a notice board in schools, offices or public places.
Why Do We Write Notices?
Notices are used to inform people about meetings, events, holidays, competitions, rules or any important announcement. In the SEE examination, students are often asked to write a notice on a given topic. This tests the ability to write clear, formal and organised short announcements.

Structure of a Notice
- 1Name of the Institution: Write the name of the school, club or organisation at the top.
- 2Notice Heading: Write the word “NOTICE” clearly in the centre or as a heading.
- 3Date: Write the date on which the notice is issued.
- 4Title / Subject: A short title that tells what the notice is about (optional but useful).
- 5Body: Give the necessary information clearly (what, when, where, who).
- 6Signature / Name and Designation: Write the name and post of the person issuing the notice.
